Refund & Cancellation Policy

1. Overview

ShearBook connects clients with independent beauty professionals (“Pros”). Each booking may require a deposit at the time of scheduling. This policy outlines how deposits, cancellations, refunds, and no-shows are handled on our platform.

Important: ShearBook is a technology platform, not a service provider. Pros are independent professionals — they are not employees, agents, or representatives of ShearBook. Refunds for services are not ShearBook’s responsibility. Any refund request is strictly between you and your Pro. ShearBook does not issue, process, or guarantee refunds for services rendered by Pros.

2. Deposits

When booking a service, you may be required to pay a non-refundable deposit. The deposit amount is set by each Pro and is displayed before you confirm your booking. Deposits serve to:

  • Secure your appointment time slot
  • Compensate the Pro for holding that time exclusively for you
  • Reduce no-shows and last-minute cancellations

Deposits are non-refundable. By booking, you acknowledge and agree that your deposit will not be returned in the event of cancellation or no-show.

3. Cancellations by Client

You may cancel a booking at any time through your ShearBook dashboard. However:

  • Deposit: Your deposit is non-refundable regardless of when you cancel.
  • Remaining balance: If you have not yet paid the remaining balance (service was not completed), no additional charge applies.
  • Already paid in full: If you paid the full amount before the service was rendered, you may be eligible for a partial refund of the balance (excluding deposit) at the Pro’s discretion.

4. Cancellations by the Pro

If a Pro cancels your appointment:

  • Your deposit will be refunded in full
  • Any additional payments will be refunded in full
  • Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-10 business days

5. No-Shows

If you fail to arrive at your scheduled appointment without prior cancellation:

  • Your deposit is forfeited (non-refundable)
  • The Pro may charge up to the full service amount at their discretion
  • Repeated no-shows may result in account restrictions

6. Late Arrivals

If you arrive late to your appointment, the Pro may:

  • Provide a shortened service if time permits
  • Reschedule the appointment to a later time or date
  • Treat the booking as a no-show if arrival is excessively late (typically 15+ minutes)

Late arrival policies may vary by Pro. Check the Pro’s profile for specific policies.

7. Refunds Are Between You and Your Pro

ShearBook does not issue refunds for services. Pros on ShearBook are independent professionals — they are not employees, agents, or contractors of ShearBook. Because ShearBook does not perform, supervise, or control the services you receive, refunds for services are not our responsibility.

All refund matters are strictly between you and your Pro. ShearBook is not a party to service disputes and has no obligation to issue, facilitate, or guarantee any refund for services rendered.

If you are unsatisfied with a completed service:

  • Contact your Pro directly through ShearBook to discuss your concerns — they set their own refund policies
  • Whether or not a refund is issued is entirely at the Pro’s sole discretion
  • ShearBook may assist with communication between you and your Pro, but we do not mediate, adjudicate, or make refund decisions

8. Chargebacks & Fraudulent Disputes

Filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or credit card company for a legitimately completed service is considered a violation of these terms and may result in immediate and permanent termination of your ShearBook account.

By using ShearBook, you agree to the following:

  • No chargebacks for completed services: If a Pro performed the service you booked, you are not entitled to a refund through your bank or card issuer. You agreed to the service and its pricing at the time of booking.
  • Contact the Pro first: If you have a concern about service quality, you must attempt to resolve it directly with the Pro before pursuing any payment dispute.
  • Account termination: Users who file chargebacks or fraudulent payment disputes will have their accounts permanently suspended. You will be banned from creating new accounts and from using the Platform.
  • Recovery of losses: ShearBook and/or the Pro reserve the right to pursue recovery of any losses, fees, or damages incurred as a result of a fraudulent chargeback, including but not limited to chargeback fees, legal fees, and the original transaction amount.
  • Dispute evidence: ShearBook will provide transaction records, booking confirmations, and service completion evidence to the payment processor in response to all chargebacks.

This policy exists to protect Pros from fraudulent chargebacks. Beauty services cannot be “returned” — once a service is performed, the Pro has earned their compensation.

9. Subscription Refunds (Pros)

ShearBook Pro subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis. Subscription payments are non-refundable for the current billing period. You may cancel your subscription at any time, and your access will continue until the end of the current billing period.

10. How Refunds Are Processed

Eligible refunds are processed through Stripe to your original payment method. Processing times:

  • Credit/debit cards: 5-10 business days
  • Bank accounts: 5-10 business days
  • Digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay): 3-5 business days
