Our Commitment
ShearBook is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards to make our platform inclusive.
Standards We Follow
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and define how to make web content more accessible to people with disabilities.
What We Do
ShearBook takes the following steps to ensure accessibility:
- Semantic HTML structure for screen reader compatibility
- Sufficient color contrast ratios throughout the interface
- Keyboard navigation support for all interactive elements
- Alt text for images and meaningful labels for form fields
- Responsive design that works across all device sizes
- Focus indicators for keyboard users
- ARIA labels where standard HTML semantics are insufficient
- Regular testing with screen readers and accessibility tools
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may have limitations:
- Third-party embedded content (payment forms via Stripe) may have their own accessibility considerations
- User-uploaded images may not always include descriptive alt text
- Some newer features may not yet be fully optimized for assistive technologies
We are actively working to address these limitations and improve our accessibility over time.
